City MarketCity Market Average User Rating: ![]() Photo by: Tudor Robertson The City Market is a great place to stroll and shop. There is a wonderful variety of vendors with lots of great little items of interest. You will find locally crafted sweetgrass baskets, clothing, artwork, jewelry, local souvenirs, perfumes, food, T-shirts, and other gift items. Charles Cotsworth Pinckney ceded the land on which the Market is built to the City of Charleston in 1788. He stipulated that a public market be built on the site and that it remain in use as a public market into perpetuity. The City operates Building C of Charleston's historic public market, offering very affordable space to over 50 vendors for the operation of small businesses. The Market is open 365 days per year, with regular daytime and evening hours. Keep an eye out for one of the Charleston Eagles! User Reviews: (add a review)
